November 1: The wise person is always eager to learn

Text of the meditation

The wise person is always eager to learn, but never eager to teach. All strength, wisdom, power and knowledge a person will find within themselves, but they will not find it in egotism; they will find it only in obedience, submission and willingness to learn. They must obey the higher and not glorify themselves in the lower.

Whoever stands upon egotism, rejecting reproof, instruction and the lessons of experience, will surely fall; indeed, they have already fallen. A great teacher once said to his disciples, "Those who will be a lamp unto themselves, relying on themselves only, and not on any external help, but holding fast to the Truth as their lamp, and seeking their salvation in the Truth alone, who will not look for assistance to anyone but themselves, it is they among my disciples who will reach the very topmost height!

But they must be willing to learn." The true Teacher is in the heart of every person.
