October 28: The pure person knows themselves as pure being

From James Allen's “James Allen’s Book of Meditations for Every Day in the Year” (1913), in gently modernised English. Read it, then carry the thought with you today.

Text of the meditation

The pure person knows themselves as pure being. Whoever will not give up their secret lust, covetousness, anger, or opinion about this or that can see and know nothing; they will remain a dullard in the school of Wisdom, even if they are considered learned in the colleges.

If you would find the key of Knowledge, find yourself. Your sins are not yourself; they are not any part of yourself; they are diseases you have come to love. Stop clinging to them, and they will no longer cling to you. Let them fall away, and you will stand revealed.

You will know yourself as Comprehensive Vision, Invincible Principle, Immortal Life and Eternal Good. Purity is extremely simple, and needs no argument to support it.
